Christopher Rumana, M.D.

Dr. Christopher Rumana joined the Tallahassee Neurological Clinic practice in 1998 and made an immediate contribution to quality health care in this community. Dr. Rumana is assisted by Abby Brooks, ARNP-C.

Dr. Rumana performs numerous procedures including:

  • Brain and spinal surgeries,
  • Minimally invasive spine surgery,
  • Pituitary surgery,
  • Radiosurgery, and
  • Peripheral nerve surgery.

Because Dr. Rumana works diligently to educate patients on the condition of their health, he has established a reputation as a very knowledgeable and confident physician with a caring bedside manner. He is also proud of the outstanding health care service provided by all of the staff at Tallahassee Neurological Clinic.

Dr. Rumana completed his undergraduate degree (graduating with honors) and his Medical Degree from Northwestern University. While completing his General Surgery internship and Neurosurgical Residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. During his residency, he received the distinguished Mayfield Award for Research, presented annually for outstanding research in the spine and peripheral nervous system. He won the award for his research on embryonic tissue transplants for the treatment of spinal cord injuries. Furthermore, the National Brain Tumor Foundation honored Dr. Rumana in 2002 with the Richard Anthony Hollow, Jr. Memorial Grant for Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

Board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, Dr. Rumana is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he holds a Faculty appointment as the Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University, College of Medicine. He is the current Chairman of the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Division of Neurosurgery, and in 2007–2008, he served as Chairman of the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Medical Staff.

When not at work, Dr. Rumana enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. His leisure activities include running and attending his children’s sporting events.
