Shunting Procedures

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunts are commonly used for the treatment of hydrocephalus – a swelling of the brain caused by a build up of CSF.  If left untreated, the CSF will build up and lead to increased intracranial pressure which can cause damage to the brain.  A shunt can be used to alleviate or prevent these problems for those patients suffering from hydrocephalus or other related diseases.
